Reflection Journal Entry 1

Educational Experience: 

The most important thing about teaching is the interaction between student and teacher. I have observed classrooms where the teacher wrote the assignments for the the day on the board and told the students to get  to work with no explanation on how to do the work.  Several students approached me on how to do the work and I was of no assistance due to the teacher telling me not to help the students because they were capable of doing the work themselves  I vow as a future educator I will not leave my students to fend for themselves after all the students of today are our future leaders of America.

Course Content:

Caring about students and or the success of your students should be a teachers number one priority besides making sure the child is learning. We talked about disposition the first week of school and how it can make or break you as a professional. Disposition to me is the first impression. You can tell a lot by a person by their non-verbal communication skills as well as verbal also the way a person dresses and how they care themselves  I believe that a person must care about themselves first before they even ATTEMPT to take care of the well being of someone else child.

Application:

At the moment I do not know the standard number but there is one that talk about disposition  In my classroom it will be a positive and all negatively must be left at the door whether is be student, teacher,parent,staff, and or faculty member. Just because you as a person is not cheerful does not mean you have to have a boring and dull classroom where everyone is miserable and I believe where there is fun there is learning. I agree with Swiss philosopher Pestalozzi key belief that students discourse and activities should focus on hands on manipulative s'.  The classroom becomes interactive and all learning styles can be incorporated.

College Life Without GoodFriends (part 1)

   Friends Are The Family You Get To Choose

In my high school year I truly feel like I have found my life longs friends. There is  always this saying where people say you find your life long friends in college.  I beg differ. I have several close friends from high school who I would jump in front of a bullet for.

Nylia (red Tuskegge University crew neck) : I never liked her because she gave me a very hard time my first day at her school because I was out of dress code. Not only did I have her in my second class in the morning I had her in my very last class at the end of the day and when we realized that we had the same class we just looked at each other in discuss. Slowly but surely I grew to like her and she has been apart of my life ever since that day and I would not trade her mean self for the world. She means a lot to me even though I might not tell her but she knows.

George (third to right): I can not remember how I met Tony but I know we got so close our Junior year in high school in English 3. It was always Tony, Lem, and I getting in trouble and I loved it. We had the same friends and his best friend was my boyfriend so we had to stay friends he knew everything so I thought. Tony became like a big brother I never had he always looked out for me. What made us even closer is our senior year in college we ran flags together so we were always together Tony, Nylia, Lem, Alex, and I. We were pretty much inseparable. Tony made me realize that I should follow my dreams and do not get stuck on the superficial things in life. I will always love Tony and we were meant to be best friends because our birthdays are two days apart so we were meant to be.

Jesse ( OU hoodie): Jesse is Tony's younger brother! He is that annoying little brother who works your nerves but you cannot help but love him because he does not mean any harm. He is the best and I love his work ethic but do NOT tell him I told you that.



My Love

There is only one way for a child to enter this world and thats through the a woman then becomes a mother. Words can't express how grateful I am that the lord has blessed me with a woman in my life such as my loving mother. She sacraficed so much for me since she found out that she had a bun in the oven. From making the biggest decision ever in her life to leave my father and make a better life for herself and her daughter and since then she had steady been on the grind to better herself. My mother has taught me so much from morals, values, and beliefs and how to carry myself as a young lady. My mother was a young mother and I respect the fact that she did not put me off on my grandmother and took the responsibility. I hate the fact that she was not able to finish school. My mother showed me that reading is a powerful thing. My mother has made her way throughn the cooperate ladder by reading and being a quick learner and I'm so glad that I can be the passion behind her motivation.

The anticipation of Student Teaching

WAITING JUST WAITING

The anticipation of student teaching is surreal. Student teaching allows the Prairie View Student get a that work experience and it lets the student know if they are ready to actually teach. The craziest thing that a student has said from student teaching is that we do not use any skills that they have necessarily learned from the College of Education its a totally different ball game. I hate that we only get only one chance to prove if  we are ready to go into the schools. There should be field trips and events or conventions that we go to as future educators to prepare for the what it is actually like to be in the teaching profession. Personally I'm excited to do student teaching but I'm not happy that I will have to do the student teaching process May of 2014 and I feel that is sad considering that I entered college Fall of 2009 and to be here an extra year when I do not have to be is pretty frustrating considering all these requirements the College of Education is is not requiring with a 290 on certify teaching as well as  a 290 on the content test. If you do not make a 290 on the certify teacher then student teaching will NOT be in your future. As of now there is a petition going around we ask all students of the college of Education please sign the PETITION or you will have to make a 290 on certify teacher  and the content test, before you student teach and if you do not you will receive an INCOMPLETE in all your 3000 level courses!!!
